On 28th February – 1st March, at the Athens University of Agriculture, Greece, a meeting was held on the ongoing development of the Strategic Action Group on Agricultural Knowledge and Information Systems (hereinafter “AKIS”).
In this international meeting have participated two representatives from Lithuania: assoc., prof. dr. Rasa Pakeltienė, vice dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management at Aleksandras Stulginskis University and dr. Edvardas Makelis, director of the Lithuanian Agricultural Advisory Service.
This is the second meeting of the working group. The first meeting was held on December in Tallinn, Estonia, where every EU country has received homework – to analyze the current state of the AKIS and to present its development opportunities at a meeting in Athens.
During the working sessions, examples of good practice from each country were presented; innovations in the agricultural knowledge and information system, the good experience of the HORIZON2020 program in the development of the AKIS, as well as new design possibilities were presented. EU countries have agreed on further homework that will ensure the continuity of the working group and the successful integration of AKIS into the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2020.
Assoc. prof. dr. Rasa Pakeltienė had the opportunity to present the researches of the Faculty of Economics and Management for the academic staff of Agricultural University of Athens Erasmus agreements were also concluded and discussed the possibilities of co-operation between the two agricultural universities.
